  • The Dragons Saw a Disability Story. They Missed a Global Business.
by Duncan Edwards on 24th February 2026 at 4:41 pm

The TL:DR Active Hands is an extraordinary business. Almost twenty years old, clinically endorsed, with years of customer loyalty and an untapped international market. This is an established brand with global potential, not a niche disability project. All five Dragons declined to invest. The business isn’t weak; the Den was the wrong room. • Charity shops using AI to ban resellers are harming disabled people and low-income shoppers
by Duncan Edwards on 4th February 2026 at 12:19 pm

How charity shops are using AI to target resellers I spotted this (click to watch clip, full video is below) yesterday: a ‘thrift warehouse’ publicly congratulating itself for using artificial intelligence to identify and block resellers. Not improve pricing. Not train staff. Not make online listings better. Just surveillance. The implication was familiar: resellers are The post Charity shops using AI to ban resellers are harming disabled people and low-income shoppers appeared first on Disability Horizons Shop Disability Living Aids and Accessories.

This website isn’t just a shop — it’s the home of disability-led innovation. We exist because Clare refused to let a spinal injury limit her independence. Out of that determination, she invented the Trabasack — a unique wheelchair lap tray and bag in one.

For 16 years, we’ve supported disabled innovators and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into award-winning solutions. Every product we stock has been shaped by lived experience, designed to solve real barriers, and proven in everyday life.

From independence tools like the Trabasack to new creations from disabled entrepreneurs, Disability Horizons Shop is where solutions are invented, tested and shared with the community.

Why We Exist Our company began with a problem. After a spinal injury, Clare struggled with everyday tasks like eating and working from her wheelchair. Instead of accepting barriers, she created the Trabasack — a lap tray and bag that gave her back independence.

Duncan, a disability advocate and entrepreneur, saw how powerful disabled-led solutions could be. Together, we built this marketplace run by disabled people, for disabled people.

For over 16 years, we’ve turned lived challenges into award-winning products. We’re not ordinary retailers — we’re inventors, collaborators, and supporters of disabled entrepreneurs.

Our mission is simple:

  • Champion disability innovation
  • Launch practical solutions that work in real life
  • Prove that accessibility and good design go hand in hand

Every product we offer carries that story of experience, invention, and independence.
