This is the second time I’ve shopped with disability horizons and again can highly recommend them. The ease of ordering and paying for the product is very easy. Follow-up communication helps track the product, which arrived well packaged and within the expected time frame.I would certainly recommend this company and have no hesitation in giving them 5 stars.

- What One Hungarian Disability Retailer Can Teach the UK About Independent Livingby Duncan Edwards on 31st July 2026 at 1:16 pm
Hungary's disability equipment system differs from the UK's, but many of the same barriers remain. This article explains how funding, accessible customer service and practical equipment advice affect disabled people and family carers. It also explores lessons UK retailers and policymakers can take from Értéksziget's customer-first approach, showing that independent living often depends as much on clear information as on the equipment itself. Disability Horizons Shop: Products Shaped by Lived Experience
Disability Horizons Shop is more than an online disability aids shop. We’re a family-run business with a long history of designing, testing and selling practical products that make everyday life easier.
Our story began when Clare Edwards, a wheelchair user following a spinal injury, needed a better way to carry belongings and use a stable surface on her lap. Her solution was the Trabasack, an innovative wheelchair lap tray and bag that became an award-winning product.
Clare and her husband, Duncan Edwards, went on to support other inventors and entrepreneurs developing useful products for disabled people.
Today, Disability Horizons Shop brings together independent inventors, disability-led businesses and trusted manufacturers. We look for products that solve genuine problems, offer good design and provide practical value.
Our range includes wheelchair accessories, daily living aids, one-handed products, personal care essentials and other useful inventions.
We believe disabled people should have a leading role in designing products and running businesses that serve their community.
Why We Exist: From the Trabasack to Disability Horizons Shop
When Clare became a wheelchair user, she discovered how many everyday products failed to consider her needs. Finding a comfortable, portable surface for eating, working and carrying belongings was particularly difficult.
Rather than wait for someone else to develop a solution, she designed the Trabasack. Her invention combined a lightweight lap tray with a practical bag, creating a product that other wheelchair users could benefit from.
Duncan brought his experience in disability advocacy, welfare rights and business to help develop and promote the product.
That experience shaped our approach to Disability Horizons Shop.
We know that some of the best product ideas come from people who encounter accessibility barriers themselves. Yet independent inventors often struggle to bring their products to market or reach the people who need them.
We want to help change that.
We work with disabled entrepreneurs and small businesses, alongside established suppliers whose products meet our standards.
What Makes Our Shop Different?
Lived experience: Our approach comes from years of personal experience with disability, caring and accessible product design.
Supporting disabled entrepreneurs: We help independent inventors reach customers and bring useful ideas to market.
Carefully selected products: We choose practical disability aids and everyday solutions rather than stocking everything available.
Products for real life: We value comfort, ease of use, durability and thoughtful design.
A connection to the community: Our work with Disability Horizons keeps us close to the experiences and priorities of disabled people.
Our aim is simple: to help disabled people find products that work, while giving innovative designers and smaller businesses a better chance to succeed.
Every purchase helps us continue that work.
