Stay Safe and Supported During Power Cuts

Electricity powers much more than our lights. For many people, it’s essential for charging wheelchairs, running stairlifts, using medical equipment, heating homes, and preparing meals. When the power goes out unexpectedly, it can cause real disruption—especially if you’re disabled, older, or have additional needs.

The good news? Free help is available.

SSEN’s Priority Services Register gives you practical support, early warnings, and tailored contact to help you stay safe and comfortable during power cuts.

Real Support That Makes a Difference

“I’m in a wheelchair and have an electric ceiling hoist to help me into bed. My husband also stores medicine in the fridge. Being alerted in advance of the risk of a power cut due to bad weather or planned work really helps us prepare. It means we can get the right support in place so we feel in control and safe.”

— Mrs Millers, Age 75
